Does getting a LPG conversion affect your cars performance in a bad way?
Minor decrease in power. On a GMC pickup conversion the 350 engine performed more like a 305. Clean burner though. Some Mexican VW Beetles used to come in with the Mexico City taxi conversions and would pas emissions tests that gasoline engines couldn't. Some states have LPG fueling stations widely available- check Farm supply outlets like Co-ops. The tax situation gets interesting for farm truck conversions- the fuel is delivered to the farm tractor fuel tank and no road tax, pickup topped up with tractor fuel doesn't pay the tax charged at the pump in town. This is about same situation with diesel fueled vehicle using home heating oil delivered to house- no road tax. States getting sneaky with dye in fuel now to stop that with diesel fuel- no dye test yet for LPG. Madison has a taxi company running LP fuel- they have their own tanks and can also go to farm fuel suppliers- clean burners and fuel cost at times cheaper than gasoline. .
