What is the best time to visit Battleship Cove?

I am thinking of taking my sons to Battleship Cove in Fall River, M. I know the 4th of July is almost here and I was thinking of going that day. Is this place real crowded on the 4th? Should I go another day? If it rains does it take away from the exibits?
