How can I get rid of the boy who likes me?

Okay, so basically there's this boy who really likes me and follows me around like a lovesick puppy, but I really dislike him (he's ugly as sin and really quite boring). How can I get rid of him without upsetting him or spoiling either of our reputations? (We're both 16 years old, and at a very gossipy school).
