San Disk SDAMX-BST Sansa Base Station?

I was looking at the San Disk SDAMX-BST Sansa Base Station and was looking at the back input ports and it had a USB and a DC 12v in port. Can't it just get power from the USB port like it dose if you plug it in with the USB cable?
