Question about social networking and internet friendships period?

It is no secret now that in this world, for the internet and social networking surpes our spoiled American society, that now there is no limits. Even for those people that refuse to be on FB and Twitter there are other sites that allow and nurture narcissism. There are sites like these, there's email, chat rooms, and the list just goes on and on. Do you think, considering all of this and the major impact of the internet on our world that it is very easy to believe that you know someone better than you do when you know them only on the internet? Do you believe that subconsciously we can have this idea that we are CLOSER to people than we actually are when we know them over the internet? Do you think that personal relationships in our society have suffered because of the rise of internet relationships? Would you personally feel a sense of loss if you had absolutely no way of getting on the internet all of a sudden?
