Is it better to give charity to impoverished people or to just let them die?

We want these people to be able to look after themselves, right? If we keep dumping truckloads of free food on them, their economy will never grow because the farmers and shopkeepers won’t be bale to sell merchandise. Not only that, if we give them free food and healthcare, their life expectancies will increase and this will lead to a population explosion, ever increasing the burden on charity providers. So isn’t it better to just let them die and force them to change their society themselves so that it functions correctly?
