How do I find out if my bestfriend (a guy and im a girl) likes me?

ok, I met my bestfriend in 5th grade and i thought he was totally hott ok but then we started bein really good friends so i stopped likin him but in the past two years (its bout to be tha 3rd year weve been friends) i have had on and off crushes on him! But lastely this week he been callin me everyday kinda flrtin sometimes and wantin to come over non stop! He came over my house a few days ago and i felt a connection!! we were just flrtin huggin and talkin non stop! he tends to flrt with me a lot and has wanted to kiss me before but i didnt kiss him bac cause i was young! but i am really startin to like him again but i dont wanna ask him out! what should i do?? and how do I find out if he likes me back?
